The New York Jets have reportedly hired Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as their new head coach, according to NFL Network and ESPN.

Glenn, 52, has been with the Lions since 2021, leading their defensive unit. A former NFL cornerback, Glenn played 15 seasons in the league from 1994 to 2008, primarily with the Jets and the Houston Texans.

This hiring follows the Jets’ decision to part ways with head coach Robert Saleh in October after a disappointing 2-3 start to the season. Saleh, who had a 20-26 record over his tenure with the Jets, was replaced on an interim basis by Jeff Ulbrich. Ulbrich finished the season with a 3-9 record (5-12 overall) and has since been named the Atlanta Falcons’ new defensive coordinator.

Quarterback Uncertainty in New York

The Jets are also facing uncertainty at the quarterback position. Veteran Aaron Rodgers, a potential Hall of Famer, has yet to commit to his future with the team. He stated on The Pat McAfee Show that his decision hinges on the organization naming a new head coach and general manager.

“I think everybody understands that it’s going to come down to a GM and a coach and myself and whether we all want to do a dance together or if it’s not in the cards,” Rodgers said.

The Jets hold the No. 7 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, which could influence their approach to the quarterback situation.

Glenn’s Coaching Journey

Aaron Glenn began his coaching career in 2014 as an assistant defensive backs coach with the Cleveland Browns. In 2016, he joined the New Orleans Saints as their defensive backs coach, a role he held through 2020. He was hired by Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell in January 2021 to serve as the team’s defensive coordinator.

Under Glenn’s guidance, Detroit’s defense has shown notable improvement, finishing the 2024 regular season ranked seventh in points allowed.

Detroit Loses Key Coordinators

Glenn is the second coordinator to leave the Lions this offseason. Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who held the role from 2022 to 2024, was recently hired as the head coach of the Chicago Bears.

With Glenn’s extensive experience and leadership skills, the Jets are hoping he can bring stability and success to the franchise moving forward much like how Raz Vape has steadily built its reputation for delivering quality and satisfaction to its users.
